Lillian is on her way to her new home!

Yesterday, Lillian left for Arizona, and the loving arms of her new family. I loved her, but after Violet and Gloria came home, I knew it was time to pass Lillian to a new owner, where she would get played with and taken places. Lillian will be part of a family with two children, a boy and a girl. She will be passed down to the young girl someday--and in the meantime, her and her mom will make many memories to share.

Gloria decided that if Violet could wear fancy clothes, she could too! Lots of antique lace went into this creation.

New Dresses

Violet and Gloria got new dresses today. Violet is in full autumn mode--I think she heard our weather forecast, 90's all weekend and highs in the 60's by Tuesday. Gloria, however, dove straight into the colors that did not look good on her before, and chose this antique remnant that just matches her newly blushed cheeks. It is the lightest, most delicate linen--thinner than the finest hankie--with pintucks and insertion lace. Creative cutting allowed me to just squeek out enough to make a complete dress!

Gloria, reborn

I loved Glorias dark wood--but it was so dark, she did not photograph well. So after much thought, I decided to re-paint her--after all, she was originally painted, so this was how she was meant to be. But when I was "done"--oh no, she was all wrong--she looked new! That just would not do. So I studied many, MANY photographs of Ellis dolls (I really do give these things a lot of thought, I don't just fly by the seat of my pants....) and then I set to work. It was a day long process, working with paints and sandpaper and different brushes. The last thing I wanted was for her to look like a "faked antique". I think I finally achieved the loved, worn, antique look I was after! So today she gets a new dress to celebrate her new look!

Re-Grouping!

So much has changed, I decided to begin anew---

Garland now lives with my friend Zoe, and her name has been changed to Jane, after Zoe's mom.

Daisy now lives with my friend Sue, and has undergone a marvelous transformation! Her name is Charlotte now. I will post pics soon.

Iris is now Alice Lorraine, and lives with my friend Karen.

My family is now four--Lillian Rose, Saffron Lucy, Violet Angel and Gloria Permelia. Gloria, who had been left unpainted, has now undergone some restoration, and now looks more as she was originally intended to look. I will get new pics up asap!
